I'm going to cheat a bit here. I did not take that photo and it's not a sunny morning. But it is Friday and that is fabulous.
My daughter took the (unedited!) photo above earlier this week while her older brother drove them both to school. Almost every morning they are treated to a spectacular sunrise as they make the 40 minute trek lined with cotton fields, pecan groves, cow pastures, over water, through traffic and into another state As a mother, I am both thankful and terrified. This is the first year that I am not serving as the morning and afternoon bus driver. Each day I await the message that can put my mind at ease: "There." is the one-word text message I get to let me know they have safely arrived at their destination. Wouldn't it be great if we could all mindfully acknowledge when we get "there"? By that, I mean take the time to appreciate where you are in the moment. Whether it's enjoying the outdoors, immersing yourself in a hobby, or spending time with the ones you love, stop and breathe it all in. Make a conscious effort each day to bypass the clutter; resentment, self-imposed stress, and negativity (ours and others'). You can choose to navigate the direction of your day. You are behind the wheel. Are you "there" yet? Have a Fabulous Friday! <a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11003411/?claim=wqbeub629ee">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>
In a dramatic and rather uncharacteristic move to recruit more readers to my blog, I am testing out bloglovin', an app that is supposed to allow you to follow all of your favorite blogs in one easy step. I created an account, and in order to "claim" my blog, I had to paste the above gibberish in order for it to work. So, I am trying it out. The next step is for me to then go claim and add and follow the other blogs I like. I solicited my Facebook friends to comment on my Facebook page with a link to their own blogs. I have hopes that this will help me find my favorite blogs more easily. My old system: 1) Buy an issue of Artful Blogging and salivate at all the blogs and pretty pictures. 2) Turn down the page of the ones I would like to check out online. 3) Go back and write them all down on a sticky note. 4) Lose the sticky note. 5) Go back to Step 2 and Step 3. 6) Find all my sticky notes months later and wonder if I ever actually checked out the blogs. 7) Actually check the blogs out. 8) Forget the names of the ones I really like, and forget to bookmark them. 9) Repeat Step 1. Hopeful that my new system will require the one-time initial set-up of: 1) Find the blogs I want to follow through Bloglovin'. 2) Click the follow button on the Bloglovin website 3) On my down time, waiting, boredom, whatever…Click on the Bloglovin' button on my phone and all my favorite blogs are there. Fingers crossed. Carolyn Here's a big P.S. (as in PRE-script) Just got back from a weekend road trip and see that my Fab Friday post that was to post in my absence, didn't. Okay, so it's Tuesday night...posting anyway. Trip was great, glad I did not wait for a non-storm. Here's my post:
I live in the Land of Roads Less-Travelled. Every morning in the span of an hour, I am blissfully treated to sand in my shoes, the echoes of oyster gravel crunching beneath my feet, cobblestone roads, and the residue of red clay as my dog Millie and I traipse through the woods. But this weekend I am fleeing to the Land of Laughter as I meet my BFF from college. There are pangs of guilt as I flee the threat of Tropical Storm Karen. Those left behind will have to batten down the hatches without me. Sorry, but my friend and I haven't seen each other in five years and this trip was already scheduled. I am headed off to the Big City, with promises of concerts, pedicures, room service, and memories. Sometimes, it's the Road Less-Travelled that leads your soul to happiness. And sometimes, it's just the Damn Interstate that gets you there. Have a Fabulous Friday, and stay safe whichever path you choose. Carolyn |
