I decided to catch up on some creative browsing., so I took an issue of Artful Blogging http://www.stampington.com/artfulblogging/ outside to the hammock. Now, this was also not the latest issue. This was the August issue. That's how far behind I am with my leisurely reading. I love reading about other blogs and seeing the photos of other artists' works. I find this to be inspirational and disheartening all at the same time. Inspirational for the obvious reasons, and disheartening because I feel as if this blog (along with other aspects of my creative life) will inadequately keep limping along until I can devote some more time to it. I need to carve out some time to take better pictures, write with a little more zest, and learn more about Photoshop. I'm still just picking my way around that complicated program. Anyway, with layer upon beautiful layer of beautiful art jumping off the pages of each issue of Artful Blogging, it's hard for me to quiet the "why would anyone bother to read my blog?" demons.
But it was such a beautiful day and I was so inspired, I put down the magazine, went to get my camera and then gave myself a long-overdue photo challenge. The challenge was to take a picture of whatever I wanted, but I could not leave the confines of my hammock. http://pawleysislandhammocks.com/index.php I could change angles or positions, but butt could not leave ropes.
I read some good advice that day about not posting photos on your blog if you feel the need to "apologize" for them. That's really great advice--great advice that for now, I'm choosing to ignore. So, please accept my apologies, there are no award winners in this batch. Afterall, this is a learning exercise. The results of my challenge are posted below. Some of these images are unaltered, and some are slightly adjusted with my minimal knowledge of what I can do in Photoshop.
